It is hard to believe that just over a month ago Schulich Delta was driving on Australian roads for the very first time. The 2013 World Solar Challenge was truly a defining moment for the team and it would not have been possible without the continued support of our amazing sponsors. The team thrives on building lasting relationships with each one of our sponsors and looks to them as role models.
In particular, the team would like to thank ConocoPhillips Canada and ConocoPhillips Australia who went above and beyond in helping us get ready to WSC 2013. Barb Simic from ConocoPhillips Canada worked hard to ensure our team had all the necessary support both in Calgary and in Australia. ConocoPhillips has been a long-time supporter of the team and had helped us tremendously during the last WSC back in 2011 as well.
In this year’s competition, ConocoPhillips helped us by picking up our shipping container once it arrived in Darwin and dropping it off at the race track, which helped the team breathe a little easier, knowing our car was safe and sound. They were there for us when we needed our container to be put onto our flatbed truck as well. ConocoPhillips has also sponsored and provided the U of C Solar Car Team with many amenities that proved extremely useful during WSC, such as windbreakers, team uniforms and handy backpacks.
With WSC 2013 in the books, along with the Safety Award, we would like to once again thank each one of you for your continued support in our initiative. Using the experience from this race, our team will take these lessons learned back home and improve Schulich Delta so that it is more practical, innovative, and a technologically advanced solar car.
